Find the right supplement for you
Answer 3 simple questions and we'll give you personalised recommendations.
1. What is your main goal?
How to choose the right supplement
Start from a goal, not from a product. Most supplement ranges are organised by substance, which only helps once you already know what you are looking for. Decide first what you want support with, then narrow down by form, dose and how the product fits your day.
Compare the amount of active ingredient per stated serving, its form and the price per unit of active ingredient. Check the serving size and number of servings in each pack. A serving in a comparison is not always the full recommended daily intake; follow the package directions.
Form affects both how a product is absorbed and whether you will actually keep taking it. Capsules are easy to dose, powders are cheaper per gram and easier to scale, and liquids suit anyone who has trouble swallowing tablets. The best form is the one you will not abandon after two weeks.
Take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or living with a chronic condition? Check with a doctor or pharmacist before you start. Supplements are meant to complement a varied diet, not replace one.
Common questions about supplements
- How many supplements can I take at the same time?
- There is no fixed number. Keep track of the total intake of each substance across every product you take — it is easy to exceed a recommended level when several products contain the same vitamin or mineral. Read the daily dose on every label and count them together.
- Morning or evening?
- It depends on the product. Some are best taken with food, others on an empty stomach, and some people prefer to split the dose across the day. The package always states the manufacturer's recommendation; the guide above shows a suggested time for each product it recommends.
- How do I compare two products with the same name?
- Compare the active ingredient amount, chemical form and serving size. Price per serving helps compare equal portions; price per unit of active ingredient helps when strengths differ. Check the recommended daily intake separately.
- How long before I should expect anything?
- That varies with substance and starting point, and it is individual. Give a product a fair trial period at the recommended dose before you judge it, and change one thing at a time so you can tell what did what.
