Swanson Psyllium Husks

Product overview

Swanson Psyllium Husks is a natural fibre supplement containing psyllium seed husks – a plant-based source of soluble fibre. Swanson products are known for their reliability and high quality, and Psyllium Husks is no exception. Swanson is an American brand with extensive experience in health food products and a philosophy based on combining the power of nature with rigorous quality assurance. Its products are designed to fit easily into a healthy lifestyle and suit anyone looking for a clean and effective dietary supplement.

Active ingredients & science

The active component in Swanson Psyllium Husks is psyllium husk, which comes from the seeds of Plantago ovata. These husks consist mainly of soluble fibre, particularly arabinoxylan, a polysaccharide that can bind water and form a gel-like mass in the gastrointestinal tract. Soluble fibre cannot be broken down by the body's own enzymes, meaning it passes relatively intact through the digestive system, where it adds bulk and texture. Its high viscosity is what distinguishes psyllium from many other types of fibre and affects how long the fibre remains in the gastrointestinal tract and interacts with stomach contents.

Benefits & uses

• Suitable for a healthy lifestyle: Ideal for those who prioritise clean, natural products without artificial additives.
• Easy to use every day: Can be mixed with water or juice, making it easy to take regularly.
• Gentle on sensitive stomachs: The product contains no extra bulking agents or allergens, making it suitable for many different users.

Directions & dosage

For precise dosage, follow the instructions on the packaging, as these may vary depending on the product format and individual needs. Psyllium husk is usually taken with plenty of fluid to ensure the fibre can swell as intended. The product can be taken both before and after meals. If combining it with other supplements, it may be helpful to take them at different times for optimal absorption.

Quality & manufacturing

Swanson is a brand that prioritises the quality and purity of its products. The psyllium husks in this product are carefully selected and processed without unnecessary additives or bulking agents, resulting in a clean product that retains its natural character. Manufacturing follows strict standards, and Swanson carries out regular quality checks to ensure the product meets both internal standards and legal requirements. The packaging is designed to preserve the product's shelf life and protect it from moisture and light, which is important for maintaining the fibre's properties over time.
